About me

Meet Savia Juan Jackson Lodiong
Disability Rights Activist, SRHR Advisor, Entrepreneur, and Actress
My journey is rooted in the belief that inclusivity is not just a right but a transformative force for building equitable societies. Having personally navigated the challenges of a disability within cultural contexts that often overlook intersectionality, I am committed to being a voice for change and a beacon of hope for those who may feel unheard or unseen. My advocacy focuses on addressing the unique challenges faced at the intersection of disability, gender, and culture, particularly within African contexts, where the voices of marginalized communities often struggle to break through
My professional journey has equipped me with diverse experiences that fuel my dedication to advocacy and empowerment. I began my career with the Reproductive Health Association of South Sudan (RHASS) in the WISH Project, where I worked tirelessly to promote Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), family planning, and youth-friendly services through community outreach and education. This laid the foundation for my unwavering focus on inclusivity. Later, with Mott MacDonald on the Girls’ Education South Sudan (GESS) project, I transitioned from Mentoring Coordinator to Disability Inclusion Coordinator, championing the needs of learners with disabilities. My efforts ensured resources were properly allocated, learners with disabilities were validated and supported, and referral pathways were established – driving home the idea that no child should be left behind.
Currently, as an SRHR Advisor with YGlobal South Sudan, I train youths, women, and Persons with Disabilities on SRHR topics, Mental Health & Well-being, Positive Masculinity, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD). My work extends to building the capacity of Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs) and advocating for employment opportunities, empowering communities to take their advocacy to the next level.
The establishment of IDRAN marks a new chapter in my journey. As its Founder and Executive Director, I aim to create a transformative organization dedicated to advancing disability inclusion through research-driven solutions and inclusive advocacy. Although IDRAN is in its formative stages, it embodies my vision for a world where the voices of Persons with Disabilities, Youths and Women are amplified, and the intersection of disability, gender, and culture is holistically addressed. By forging partnerships, mobilizing resources, and cultivating sustainable networks, I hope to make IDRAN a cornerstone of change in the fight for disability rights and inclusive development.
Beyond advocacy, I wear multiple hats. As an entrepreneur, I lead my own business, contributing to economic empowerment and demonstrating the limitless potential of individuals with disabilities. As an actress with Angel Films South Sudan, I express my creativity and use storytelling to inspire, challenge stereotypes, and bring to light the diverse experiences of marginalized groups.
My lived experiences navigating societal barriers have instilled in me a deep sense of resilience, purpose, and a relentless drive to make a difference. I firmly believe in reshaping societal narratives to celebrate diversity and empower individuals to realize their full potential, regardless of ability. My journey is one of breaking barriers, championing rights, and building a future where inclusivity is not just an aspiration but a reality for all
